Clean the customer names
An Excel formula exercise from Formuladrill. Solve it with a formula bar on a live sheet in your browser, and it is checked the moment you submit.
The task
From Rosa in Sales: "This customer list was typed by hand, with extra spaces and random capitals. Put a clean version of each name in column B, like Maria Lopez." Use one formula per row in B2:B5.
What this exercise teaches
Nesting cleanup functions, as in PROPER(TRIM(A2)), fixes several problems in one pass, and the formula keeps working on any new name.
A hint if you get stuck
TRIM removes the extra spaces and PROPER capitalizes the first letter of each word. You can put one inside the other.
